The franchise was founded prior to the 2006 season. It was initially known as The Chicago Mercury. But, it is now more well-known than the Chicago Sky.

She averaged 17.8 minutes, 5.5 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game. She also reached double figures at the Big Ten tournament. The Phoenix Mercury also drafted Maya Dodson, Notre Dame's forward.
Trades
The Sky have made some moves to improve their roster this offseason. They made several trades to acquire draft picks and traded away players. Alaina coates was traded to Minnesota, Kaitlin lou Samuelson was acquired from Dallas and Astou Dour was acquired. They also traded their 16th and 2021 Draft picks, as well a 2022 second-rounder.

The Chicago Sky has announced their 2021 game broadcast schedule. The team will be broadcasting five regular season games on CW26, with play-by-play from Lisa Byington and color analysis from Meghan McKeown. Five games will be broadcast on My Michiana in South Bend.
Fan base
The Chicago Sky's vibrant fan base celebrates the team and strives for improvement in the city. Thousands of Sky supporters turned out to celebrate the team's 2015 WNBA championship. The parade shut down downtown and took over Chicago Park. This was a wonderful way to foster community spirit and was a heartwarming community celebration.
