Gina Carano began her professional mixed martial arts career by training in Muay Thai. In 2006, she made it to the professional ranks, posting a 7-1 record under EliteXC. She faced Rosi Sexton in 2008 and won by knockout. Her success in MMA gave her an opportunity to fight for the women's championship in Strikeforce.

After finishing a kickboxing course in college, Todd wanted to compete professionally. With no opportunities available in her home country, she turned to kickboxing. She was drawn to Muay Thai because of its challenge and was even able to take over a local fighter. Todd has participated in many of the world's most important tournaments during her time on the ring. Although she still has a passion for competing professionally, she is also working as an aerospace engineer.

The knockouts of Gina Carano were numerous and her record of seven wins by stoppage was impressive. She was an accomplished Muay Thako competitor who had won 14 victories before she stepped into the ring. Her career-high knockout percentage was 94.8%. She did not intend to fight, but her athletic achievements at high school helped her realize her dream.
