Hope Solo is a two time Olympic gold medalist
While she was awarded her first gold at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, that was not the end for her extraordinary soccer career. She was born and raised in Richland, Washington. She played for the United States Women's Soccer Team from 2000 to 2016. She was a winner of two Olympic gold medals as well as a World Cup. Hope started soccer at a young age and was once ranked in the top five of the country. She was a University of Washington Huskies collegiate goalkeeper. The Huskies went on the dominate the Pacific-10 Conference. She was NSCAA's All-American for each year she attended college, and was the university’s leader in saves & shutouts.
Hope Solo left Seattle Reign FC after winning her second Gold Medal. In July 2016, Hope Solo published her autobiography. Hope Solo signed an agreement with Seattle Reigns NWSL in July 2016. She was injured for several months. She resumed international duty in 2017, playing a pivotal role in the USWNT's Women's World Cup win in Canada. Following a March 31 arrest, she was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while impaired and misdemeanor child abuse. The two-time Olympic medalist is currently appealing to be inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame. However, it has been pushed back until 2023. When she was found unconscious behind a car's steering wheel with her twins, Hope Solo was unable to follow instructions from the police officer. According to reports, Hope Solo was so drunk that she was unable to perform a field sobriety test or follow instructions from the police officer. She was charged with driving under the influence, resisting arrest, and misdemeanor child cruelty.
The arrest occurred one month after Hope Solo was initially scheduled to be inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame. Hope has asked that the ceremony not be held until 2023 to allow her to attend the program and concentrate on her recovery. Hope's original induction date was May 21, but she requested a deferment from the Hall of Fame.
