One of the most famous women's soccer players in the world is Carli Lloyd. As a child, she played soccer with Turkish boys in Delran. She has also been involved in softballs, swimming, basketball and golf. She is the daughter of Stephen and Ashley, a brother and sister. After graduating from Delran High School, she attended Rutgers University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and Sports Studies. Brian Hollins became her high school sweetheart in November 2016. She still resides in South Jersey.
Marta Vieira da Silva
Marta Vieira da Silva is a Brazilian professional footballer. She was born 19 February 1986. She plays forward for the Orlando Pride of the NWSL and for the Brazilian national team. She was named FIFA World Player-of-the Year six times, five consecutively. This achievement makes Marta the all-time leading goal scorer in the history of the sport. Marta is still controversial despite her incredible achievement and continues to face many controversies.
Homare Sawa
Homare Sawa is a former Japanese professional soccer player who was an iconic midfielder with a career that spanned more than two decades. Sawa, who was born on 6 September 1978, played at a variety of positions for the Japan national team. With 205 caps, Sawa is considered to be one of the best female footballers. Sawa was a player for the Nippon TV Beleza as well as the INAC Kobe Leonessa. This earned her local fame. When she scored a hat-trick and led the Japanese team to a silver medal at the 2011 World Cup her fame skyrocketed.
Vivianne Miedema
Vivianne Miedema joined the Dutch national football team in September 2013. On June 5, 2019, she had scored 60 goal for her country. This made her the second most prolific goal scorer of the league's entire history. She played for numerous Dutch clubs including Heerenveen during her impressive career. She scored 24 goals across all games of the 2012/13 UEFA Women's European Championship. In 2013/14, she was part of a BeNe League side that finished second and she scored 41 goals over 26 games. Despite this, she didn't make the Ballon d'Or list or the FIFPRO International XI.
Megan Rapinoe
Megan Rapinoe, in addition to her amazing pitching skills, is a strong advocate for equality as well as social justice. She supports the "taking the knee" campaign against racial injustice and has sparred on Twitter with President Donald Trump. In September 2016, she sat down at the national anthem while playing against Thailand. She was expelled from the team again after kneeling during the national anthem at the 2016 Olympics.
