Mexicans have a rich heritage in boxing. Mexico is home to some of the most talented fighters in boxing, including Julio Cesar Chavez (pictured above) and Oscar De La Hoya (pictured below). Others, like Saul "Canelo Alvarez, have won the world championships and are now icons. Mexico isn't as rich in MMA than it is in boxing. However, the country has produced some amazing fighters.
Brandon Moreno
Brandon Carrillo Moreno is a professional mixed martial artist from Mexico. He competes at Flyweight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is an ex-Flyweight Champion and serves as Interim UFC Flyweight Champion. He is known for his intense and fast paced style of fighting.
He has been married to Shirley Moreno for over 10 years. She usually stands by his side during public appearances. The couple have three daughters, Maddie born in 2014, Megan born in 2019 and Morgan born in 2021. They shared pictures of their families on social media.
Cain Velasquez
Cain Velasquez, a Mexican heavyweight, has found a new career as a professional wrestler after a successful UFC career. He has wrestled in Mexico and the WWE. In December 2018, he signed with the Mexican promotion AAA. He plans to continue wrestling this year.
Velasquez has been charged with attempted murder and multiple gun assault. Velasquez has been held without bail. The shooting took place on Monday, and Velasquez was arrested in connection to the incident. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting.
Nick Diaz
Nick Diaz, a Mexican MMA fighter, is a world champion. He is also one of the most charismatic UFC fighters. His last fight was against Rob Lawler, UFC 47. Lawler won the second round by KO. Diaz hasn't fought professionally since. Real Fight, Inc. is his fight promotion company. He and his brother have also established a clothing line, as well as a center for jiu jitsu.
In this highly anticipated fight, Diaz will make his much-awaited return into the octagon. Although this could be his final fight with WME, it is not clear what the future holds for Diaz. Ferguson will be Diaz's opponent.
Alejandro Perez
Alejandro Perez is a Mexican mixed martial artist currently fighting in the bantamweight section of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The reality television series "The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America" made Perez famous. Perez became more interested in MMA after he won.
Perez, 33 is a Mexican national. He was born September 2, 1989. He is now 33 and competes at bantamweight. He made his UFC debut at the UFC on November 15, 2014. He trains at American Kickboxing Academy.
Melissa Martinez
Melissa Martinez is a Mexican kickboxer who is 25 years of age. She has been competing professionally since 2016. She is an excellent prospect in mixed martial arts and has a perfect record. Her specialty is in shock technique. She has also trained in kickboxing and Muay Thai.
Martinez won the gold medal at this year's 2021 World Association of Kickboxing Operators (WAKO), World Championship. She was also named the best female kickboxer at the event. She won the 2016 Pan American Kickboxing Championship as well as a silver medal in the 2017 World Games. She is also a sixtime national kickboxing champion. She has a promising MMA future and plans to continue competing kickboxing.
